Little Oak Montessori School – After School Program Coordinator (Children’s House, Ages 3–6)
2025–26 School Year | White Salmon, WA

Are you passionate about working with young children and skilled at setting clear, consistent boundaries in a warm, engaging way? Do you enjoy leading fun, creative activities rooted in respect and independence? Little Oak Montessori School is seeking an After School Program Coordinator to join our team for the 2025–26 school year.

This position supports our Children’s House (ages 3–6) and requires someone who can confidently manage a group of young children while upholding the Montessori approach in a calm, prepared environment. The After School Program is an extension of our classroom and reflects our core values of respect, independence, and curiosity.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday: 2:30–6:00 PM

  • Compensation: $20–$22/hour

  • Start Date: Orientation begins late August; school starts September 2, 2025

  • Location: White Salmon, WA (10 min from Hood River, 1 hour from Portland)

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a nurturing, safe environment consistent with Montessori principles

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities (e.g., art, music, storytelling, games)

  • Set and maintain clear expectations and boundaries in a positive, respectful manner

  • Communicate warmly with parents/caregivers at pickup and share highlights of the child’s afternoon

  • Prepare materials and maintain a clean, orderly environment

  • Collaborate with classroom guides to ensure continuity and alignment with the school day

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional experience with children ages 3–6

  • Strong classroom/group management skills with a gentle, firm approach

  • Creativity, reliability, and a proactive mindset

  • An appreciation for or familiarity with Montessori philosophy (training a plus)

  • Ability to model respect, independence, and grace and courtesy

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old

  • Prior paid experience working with young children

  • Able to pass a criminal fingerprint background check
