In Home Caregiver

Seeking a compassionate, patient care giver to provide essential support care for a Senior Vet Gentleman with dementia related issues. He is gentle, non combative & lives 2 miles outside of Goldendale in a Studio Apt in a quiet area.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life while ensuring his dignity and rights are respected. This role requires a blend of caregiving skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities.

We do all of his grocery & personal need shopping & laundry service.

Duties

• Assist him with daily living activities such as help getting into & out of the shower, every other day, laying out his clothing & sorting clean vs soiled accordingly, serving ready to eat food, & staying with him until he completes his meal
• He wears adult diapers which must be disposed off by putting into trash bag. He is otherwise healthy.
• Provide companionship, emotional support & engage in light conversation as you clean his Studio Apt. & ensure all food is in the small refrigerator, Maintain cleanliness and organization of clothing in labeled Totes. to promote a safe environment.
• Keep him from wondering, he enjoys walking & needs to stay at home with a large back area to enjoy sun

Requirements

• Previous experience in caregiving, patient care or caring for a family member or friend with dementia type challenges
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. Although in his career he was an IT Admn supervisor for a large Seattle Area telecom for 30 years, not mentally challenged, just severe memory issues & inability to care for himself.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
• Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as required for resident assistance.
• Flexibility to work various times, each time would be less than 2 hours unless there was a special project. Great chance to pick up a few hours for you & make a positive difference in his life.
