About the role:

This is a full time, salaried role and reports to our Head Chef. You will play a key part in the day-to-day success of the kitchen team, supporting all aspects of kitchen operations and assuming responsibility in the Chefs absence. Making sure only great, high-quality food leaves the kitchen, and that all our employees are on task and feel supported in their roles.

A breakdown of your tasks:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure a positive and high-performing team culture.
  • Train and develop staff to deliver exceptional service and achieve operational excellence.
  • Assign, delegate and lead with enthusiasm.
  • Collaborate with the other sous chefs and head chef in day-to-day operations of the BOH
  • Contribute to menu development, daily specials, and event menu planning
  • Manage all areas within the kitchen, ie, prep, dish, line, expo, to ensure everyone is on task and has clear direction.
  • Maintain professionalism of self and the kitchen as defined by Head Chef
  • Work designated station in the kitchen
  • Consistently use and maintain use of all operating procedures
  • Monitor, demonstrate, and maintain appropriate sanitation practices.
  • Coach in the moment throughout service, to maintain plating, flavor and quality
  • Enforce the use of portion control tools and practices to assist in food cost.
  • Ensure product deliveries are placed in the appropriate storage area upon delivery
  • Taste preparations as they are completed and adjust as needed
  • Monitor cooling, and methods of cooling for safety and DOH adherence.
  • Monitor proper arrangement of food storage
  • Create a daily report for the Head Chef
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, supplier relationships, and management of supplies.

Your Qualifications

  • Positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Continually receptive to constructive guidance from leads and managers
  • Be able to lift up to 50lbs safely and without risk of injury to self, others, or company property
  • Care about the quality of the job you perform, and strive for efficiency
  • Ability to maintain excellent service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated; able to look for additional tasks during slow times
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace and environment.
  • Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
  • Able to work in a consistently busy restaurant environment.
  • 5+ years of progressive work experience in a culinary environment
  • Basic computer skills, and Microsoft Office Suite competency required
