General Position Summary: Classified Staff will help execute and supervise out-of-school activities with students. Our goals are to raise literacy and math achievement, improve academic and nonacademic performance, provide a safe and supportive environment and build relationships with students. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Ability to create and deliver engaging, fun enrichment activities related to STEM and/or Project Based Learning.
- Ability to know how to make a child feel important.
- Ability to provide opportunities that incorporate reading and math supports to decrease learning loss.
- Ability to provide a safe, welcoming, supportive, respectful, and fun environment for students.
- Promote the success and achievement of low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work successfully with students of differing physical, cognitive and language abilities.
- Ability to provide clear directions in a supportive manner to staff.
- Ability to work as a team to implement designed curriculum and enrichment opportunities for students.
- Attend staff meetings and prepare for summer school June 22-26 (10 hours).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to obtain Emergency Substitute Certification
- Required to have a working knowledge of computer technology and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or highly qualified teaching certificate
- Interest in teaching project-based STEAM units
- Ability to speak Spanish
- Ability to relate with diverse youth and adults
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team member
- Classroom management and organizational skills
- Strong commitment to the program for consistency for students
- Willing to drive a school van
