General Position Summary: The summer school Support Staff will report to and communicate with the 21st CCLC Site Coordinator. Staff will assist teachers with lessons and supervise summer school time activities. Our goal is to support literacy and math in grades 1st through 8th, while providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment and to build and strengthen relationships with students. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
- Ability to assist in the assembling and delivery of enrichment activities related to STEM and/or Project Based Learning under the direction of a teacher and site coordinator.
- Promote good habits as a role model for students.
- Maintain classroom supplies, equipment, and work area.
- Ability to provide a welcoming, fun, safe and supportive environment for students.
- Promoting the success and achievement of low-income students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work successfully with students of differing physical, cognitive and language abilities.
- Ability to work as a team to implement designed curriculum and enrichment opportunities for students.
- Attend staff meetings and preparation for summer program during the week of June 22-26 (5-10 hours).
- Required to have a working knowledge of computer technology and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:
- Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
- Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council*
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Project Based Learning.
- Ability to speak Spanish.
- Demonstrates ability to relate positively and productively with diverse youth and adults.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a collaborative team member.
